Terra Nova Nurseries: “Do Not Buy” List for Cut Flowers + Perennials
Many of the plants sold to flower farmers under familiar series names originate with the same breeder: Danziger, the Israeli company behind an enormous share of the cut-flower genetics now grown around the world. Through its production and licensing network, Danziger varieties make their way to growers across the United States and well beyond it.
For small and mid-scale flower farms, one common route is Farmer Bailey, which sells plug trays of Danziger-bred varieties directly to growers.
Danziger also has a formal partnership with Terra Nova Nurseries, a U.S. breeding company known for perennials including echinacea, rudbeckia, and plectranthus. Terra Nova varieties are produced and marketed internationally through Danziger’s network.
This matters because Danziger is headquartered on land taken from Palestinians and continues to profit from Israel’s ongoing occupation.
