Terra Nova Nurseries: “Do Not Buy” List for Cut Flowers + Perennials

Many of the plants marketed to flower farmers under popular series names trace back to a single source: Danziger, the Israeli breeder that has consolidated an enormous share of global cut-flower genetics. Through its long-standing production and licensing networks, Danziger varieties are widely distributed to growers across the United States and beyond.

One of the most important distribution channels for small and mid-scale flower farms is Farmer Bailey, who offers plug trays of Danziger material directly to growers.

In addition, Danziger has a formal partnership with Terra Nova Nurseries, a U.S. breeding company whose perennials — ranging from echinacea to rudbeckia and plectranthus — are produced and marketed worldwide through Danziger’s channels.

What makes this significant is that Danziger is not just a flower company. It is headquartered on land taken from Palestinians and continues to profit from Israel’s ongoing occupation.

I’ve compiled a list of the specific varieties that are bred by Danziger and widely available to flower farmers.
